Votes for AKP decreased 7%. The results of municipality elections held on March 29 in Turkey haven’t been declared yet.
Most of the bulletins have already been counted, Lent.az informs.

According to the preliminary results the ruling party AKP (Justice and Development Party) won at the elections.

It is known that the party has gained 39% of votes. The second party is the main opposition party CHP (Democratic Society Party).

In the capital Ankara and the biggest city Istanbul the candidates of AKP were elected as the heads of the municipality. Melih Gokhchek won his opponent Murad Garayalchin and became the head of municipality of the capital for the fourth time.

Approximately 20 complaints were submitted within the day. The workers of “Hot line” service of Joint Working Group on Implementation of International Standards of Human Rights in Azerbaijan visited Lankaran city and took care about the complaints of the citizens.

According to the head of “Hot line” Service Shahin Jamalov approximately 20 complaints were submitted within the day. Complaint applications are mostly about problems in receiving social aid, provision of electric energy, installation of meters, distribution and occupation of lands etc.

The Observation Mission of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will observe the referendum in Azerbaijan to be held on March18.

The structure of observation mission was defined at the Bureau meeting of the organization held in Paris.

The mission headed by Belgian parliamentary P. Willi will arrive in Azerbaijan on March 15.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs prepared a special plan of measures on the eve of referendum on March 18 in Azerbaijan.

Interior Minister Ramil Ussubov approved the plan of measures prepared for the security and insure of public order on the day of national voting, press officer of the Interior Ministry Sadig Gozalov told APA. According to the plan of measures, all bodies and units of the Interior Ministry will pass to the special working regime from March 17 to 20.

Gozalov said specification of the voters’ lists, providing the voters with the ID-cards, preparation of the lists of the people registered in the country, living outside the republic and leaving for other countries to find jobs, were completed on February 21.

Among 1660 people participated in the poll 71.4% of them answered that they would take part in referendum.
ACSDA announces the results of public poll held on referendum

Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (ACSDA) announced the results of public poll and monitoring of the pre-referendum campaign carried out on referendum to be held on March 18.

1660 people participated in the poll. 71.4% of people said that they would participate, 17.9% hadn’t made their mind yet and 10, 7% wouldn’t participate at all.

The head of the Association Maharram Zulfugarli stated that monitoring was held all over the country on March 1-6. The participants of the poll gave their opinions on each amendment and annex to the Constitution.

Voters to cover 125 DEC
35 polling stations are out of the borders of Azerbaijan. The chief of Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov has held a press conference today.

M. Panahov stated that Azerbaijan voters would vote in 5367 polling stations over 125 districts on March 18, Lent.az informs.

He also added that 35 polling stations were out of the borders of Azerbaijan

  Two international observers to observe referendum in Nakhchivan
Two international observers are defined to observe referendum on the Election Day in Nakhchivan, Central Election Commission of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic informed Len.az.

It was noted that the representatives of Great Britain embassy John De and Simon Tanner were in Nakhchivan yesterday evening.

They will observe the ongoing process of referendum in the region.

The chief of CEC estimated different opinions heard about the referendum as a sign of democratic processes.Mazahir Panahov: “All measures have been taken”
“The common scene gives opportunity to hold fair and democratic elections on March 18 as well as the other elections.

All measures have been taken in order to hold referendum in Azerbaijan in line with European standards”, Mazahir Panahov said at the press conference carried out at “Elections” Information Center, Lent.az informed.

He estimated different opinions heard about the referendum as a sign of democratic processes.

“The political environment in Azerbaijan is very civil and this has become very stable. The current situation in society gives opportunity to hold transparent elections” he added.

Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan Republic held its regular session on constitutional legal proceedings.Constitutional Court annuls the decision of 2007

Regular open judicial session of Plenum of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan Republic on constitutional legal proceedings was held under presidency of Farhad Abdullayev.

The session considered F.Javadova and V.Aslanova's complaint the constitutional case concerning check of conformity of the decision of judicial board on civil cases of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan Republic from October, 23rd, 2007 of the Constitution and to laws of Azerbaijan Republic.

Having heard the report of judge B.Garibova on business, performances of representatives of applicants and the respondent, studied and discussed business materials, the Plenum of the Constitutional court made decision.
