Installation of web- cameras in 10 per cent of election centers is planned for the municipal elections in Azerbaijan- NEC chairpersonInstallation of web- cameras in 10 per cent of election centers is planned for the municipal elections in Azerbaijan. According to the information of, the chairperson of the Central Election Committee Natig Mammadov said it at the meeting of the committee on Wednesday.

“On the election day, web-cameras will be installed in approximately 500 polling points”- said Mr. Mammadov. According to him, the usage of web- cameras serves to provide transparent elections.

Web cameras were, for the first time in Azerbaijan, used in the presidential elections held in 2008. The municipal elections in Azerbaijan will take place on December 23. Nomination of 15682 municipal members to 1718 is envisaged. Before, the election of self-governments has taken place two times -1994 and 2004.

16 thousand and 20 out of the candidates for the municipal membership have post-secondary education, 166 out of them have undergraduate education, and 8938 out of them have average specialties. There`re 6222 female candidates among them.

In the phase of submitting candidacy, 35 thousand 76 people were attested as candidates. In 3215 people`s candidacy was declined in constituencies for various reasons.
