Judicial-Legal Council of Azerbaijan terminated authority of ten judgesAt the meeting of the Judicial-Legal Council, held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan Fikrat Mammadov, the termination of authority of ten judges was announced.

The Council found unacceptable further activities of five of them because of the shortcomings in their work. The authority of the other five judges terminated in connection with the attainment of the age limit of tenure of judges.

For violating the law judge of Khatai district court of Baku Saadat Salimova was reprimanded, judge of the Zardab region court Agammad Garayev and the military court judge of Agdam region Abbas Abbasov were rebuked.

According to the report, the Council considered it expedient to re-appoint eight judges to various judicial positions.

At the meeting was held a principled analysis of the number of judges whose terms of office came to an end.

It was noted that in recent years in connection with violation of laws, procrastination of processes and other negative cases the authority of more than 40 judges was terminated.

The meeting also discussed the obligations stipulated by the new legislation, including the creation of new courts, the need for additional judicial personnel.

At the meeting it was noted that after the multilevel selection among the candidates for judicial office 78 lawyers have successfully completed the training phase and are now undergoing the final interviews.
