16 October 2009 | Status-quo in the region must change in favor of Azerbaijan, otherwise country will not reconcile with the situation: president
Status-quo in the region must change in favor of Azerbaijan, otherwise country will not reconcile with the situation: president"The status-quo in the region must change in favor of Azerbaijan, otherwise the country will not reconcile with the situation. Because without Azerbaijan's participation, no initiative can be realized in the region," said the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to socio-economic development of 2009, AzerTAj state news agency reported.

President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan's Army is the strongest in the region and possesses the largest military potential. "Because our country lives in the situation of war, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict still remains unsolved, and the only reason for it is the unconstructive position of Armenia. Now Armenia uses the tactics of prolonging the time in the negotiation process and Azerbaijan will not withdraw from its principal position," the Head of State said.

Ilham Aliyev said that maybe the recent events in the region have encouraged Armenia a little.
"Azerbaijan's growing role in the region and world will never enable Armenia to get out of the isolated situation. The Armenian authority is itself guilty for this. And Azerbaijan will fight for its national interests till the end. Because this is a fight for justice," State Head said.
