Recently, the Azerbaijani Ombudsman's Office has held monitoring to check the readiness of schools for the new academic year. The monitoring showed that some schools are under emergency situation.

Regarding this, Ombudsman appealed to the Azerbaijani Education Minister, Misir Mardanov. "The monitoring revealed out that the secondary schools No.4,12 and 14 of the Shaki city, schools of the villages Bash Zeyzid, Juma and Shorshu of the Sheki city, school No. 2 of the Zagatala, schools of the villages Tala and Danachi of the Zagatala region, school ¹1 and 3 of the Vendam settlement of the Gabala region, schools of the Gam-gam and Digah villages of the Guba region, school No.3 of the Deveci city, schools of the Agbash, Rahimli, Tazakand and Chol Gushu villages of the Davachi region, schools No. 3, 5, 6 and 7of the Khachmaz city, school No.1,2 and 3 of the Khudat city, schools of the Hajibeyli, Ahmedoba and Ashagi Zeyid villages of the Khudat region, schools of the settlements Gilazi and Shurabad of the Khizi region, schools No.2, 3 and 4 of the Siyazan city, schools of the villages Zarat and Yenikend of the Siyazan region need general overhaul," the appeal said.

Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanov told the minister that the public schools in the Girkhbulag village of the Shaki region and Mirzagyshlag of the Guba region, the elementary school in the Yalavanj village of the Guba region, schools in the villages Muzaffaroba and Kohna Khachmaz of the Khachmaz region, high schools in the villages Bakhisli, Yeni Yashma and Findigan of the Khyzy region are under emergency situation.

Ombudsman expressed her request on general overhaul of the above mentioned schools. If it was scheduled to reconstruct the schools, in this case, it should be done urgently.

Ombudsman also asked the minister to consider the issues regarding the repair of the secondary school in the Girkhbulag village or restructuring the building and also transferring the pupils of the schools being under emergency situation before a new academic year.

Suleymanova also appealed to the Emergency Situations Ministry and Shaki Regional Administration to take necessary measures to overhaul secondary schools in the Girkhbulag village of the Shaki region.
