About 136 people were made answerable for facts of corruption in Azerbijan over nine months of 2009, Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov said. According to Garalov, the Corruption Enforcement Department under the Prosecutor General had completed investigation on 85 criminal cases from January to September. At present, the department continues investigations into 32 criminal cases. The fight against corruption-related crimes in the management of fiscal and municipal property has been strengthened under the presidential decree dated Jun. 22, Garalov added.
