The process of nominating for municipal elections continues in Azerbaijan. 9,042 candidatures have already been approved for 1,246 municipalities, the press service of the Central Election Commission (CEC) told Trend News on Oct. 22. Of this number, 1,469 are women. 3,928 persons from those nominated have higher education.

Nine political parties nominated candidates in the elections. Lists for the collection of signatures have been provided to 7,490 candidates. Already 373 of them provided lists of signatures and other required documents to relevant district election commissions.

Municipal elections in Azerbaijan will be held on December 23.
