Azerbaijan Press Council issues a new list of racketeer-newspapersAzerbaijan Press Council issued a new list of "racketeer-newspapers". "Based on the document presented by the commission on complaints of the Press Council of Azerbaijan, the newspapers Kheber Khetti ("News Line"), "Hugug ve ittiham" ("The law and prosecution"), "Ganun ve nazaret" ( "Law and control") were declared "racketeer editions", Council's press service told Trend News on Oct. 22.

Some time ago the Press Council published a list of more than 80 newspapers, engaged in "racketeering." The Council appealed to law-enforcement agencies to investigate these facts.

The newspaper “Azerbaijani World Briefing” was given a warning on behalf of the council.As for the newspaper “Tazadlar”, it was notified that there existed indications of racketeering in its activities. The newspaper “Tazadlar” has ignored the the previous warning of the Press Council. It has published notifications in various editions of the newspaper not based on the decision of the administerative personel of the Council informing that the opinion of the commission for complaints about Tazadlar was not grounded.

Up to 4,000 media outlets were registered in Azerbaijan, 600 of them operate now. Roughly 400 newspapers and magazines are published. Over 20 TV channels operate. There are 50 E-media outlets, 20 information agencies, rest - Internet resources in Azerbaijan.
