23 October 2009 | Some additions were made to the instruction on determining “the edition of racketeer-newspapers” in the Press Council of Azerbaijan
Some additions were made to the instruction on determining “the edition of racketeer-newspapers” in the Press Council of AzerbaijanIn the Press Council of Azerbaijan some amendments were made to the instruction on the determination of “the edition of racketeer-newspapers”. Under the addition s made to the instruction on determination of “the edition of racketeer-newspapers”, henceforward the procedure about removing the name of mass media proclaimed as racketeer edition is contemplated to be considered a year after the adaptation of this decision.

The Press Council has receantly elucidated the names of over 80 newspapers which are ingaged in racketeering activities and has applied to law enforcements to investigate materials related to some of them. Other 4 newspapers were decided to be announced as racketeer at the sitting of the commission for complaints of the council held on October 22.

Under the new rule, the council must not receive substantial complaints and appeal about the mass media called receteer during the year. The mass media being in the unfair list must address to the Press Council and must present the editions published within a year to the monitoring group. The monitoring group will focus on how they meet requirements of professional principals of the mass media and legislation of the state. After having addressed the presentation to the secretariat of the Press Council in this regard, the matter will be considered by the administrative personnel.
