Azerbaijani MP proposed to increase funds allocated from the budget to the Media Development State Support FundAzerbaijani MP proposed to increase funds allocated from the budget to the Media Development State Support Fund. "The amount of funds allocated from the state budget-2010 for the Azerbaijani Presidential Media Development State Support Fund is low," 'Azerbaijan' newspaper editor-in-chief, MP Bahtiyyar Sadigov said while discussing draft state budget-2010 in Milli Majlis today.

MP proposed to increase the sum worth 2 million manat envisaged for the Media Development State Support Fund by 1 million manat. "I ask for it on behalf of journalists. I think that their requests will be fulfilled," Sadigov said.

Over 4,000 media outlets are registered in Azerbaijan. Presently only 600 function. Nearly 400 newspapers and magazines are published and over 20 television channels operate in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed the decree to establish the Media Development State Support Fund. The fund's expenses must be indicated in the state budget separately.
