17 November 2009 | The international conference dedicated to the 20 th aniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted a Decleration of Baku in the National Assembly
The international conference dedicated to the 20 th aniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child adopted a Decleration of Baku in the National AssemblyAs a result of the conference dedicated to the announcenent of 2009 as “children`s year” by the order of Azerbaijani president and the 20 th aniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in the National Assembly, a Decleration of Baku was adopted. On the basis of the information by APA, the deputy chairman Bahar Muradova explained the situation and said that, the decleration adopted as a result of the conference, reflected the the results of the discussions.

In the opinion of her, the countries envolved in the Convention on the Rights of the Child include the supreme principals for the protection of children`s rights in their legislation: “this imposes a duty before them. The duty deals with the normal environment of children. Each child must be able to realize the right to study freely. That is to say,the obligations assumed for the formation of children as heathy, educated personalities must be implemented. More humanistic steps must be taken towards children.”

Bahar Muradova said that, adoption of the bill “About juvenile system of justice” would absolutely bring new serious reforms in the of justice: “ It is declared so that countries can be able to acquire these opportunities. Such a document has been prepared in the national Assembly so far. Neverthless, it doesn`t mean that, Azerbaijan has not take steps in the area of the juvenile justice. Our legislation covers these issues. Now, it is the matter of availability of these issues as a separate law. Such a bill is prepared preliminarily, in spite of being unofficial. Most probably, this will result in the adoption of the bill in the parlament.”
