The deputy miniter: “A new approved school will be built for under-age prisoners in Azerbaijan”"At present, there are 49 under age prisoners sentenced to imprisonment in Azerbaijan. The under age prisoners compose 2 percent of the total prisoners in Azerbaijan." According to the information received from APA, this was told by the minister of justice Togrul Musayev.

The deputy miniter gave a speech in the National Assembly (Parlament) in the conference dedicated to the announcenent of 2009 as “children`s year” by the order of Azerbaijani president and 20 th aniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and said that 22 under age people have been apprehended during 6 monthes of 2009.

Underlining the detainment of minors in the approved schools of the Penitentiary service of the Minisery of Justice, Mr. Musayev has informed that, a new approved school accepted in modern standards would be built for under-age prisoners and the old one would be destroyed.

Mr Musayev notified that, there are fewer under age prisoners in Azerbaijan in comparison with other countries.
