Secretary General of European Council congratulated Ilham Aliev on his re-election at the elections, the Permanent Representative under EC in Azerbaijan told to Trend News on Friday. The report of Trend News:
The newly re-elected president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliev inaugurated at the palace named after Haydar Aliev on Friday. The president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, the head of Russian’s President Administration Sergei Narishkin, the head of President Administration of Poland Pyotr Kovnatski, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Jemil Chichek, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Ukrain Konstantin Yeliseyev has participated at the inauguration ceremony. The president of the Republic of Azerbaijan has taken an oath on the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the holy book Koran. The Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan announced the results of the elections on Wednesday. The presidential elections in Azerbaijan were conducted on October 15. According to the results of the elections Ilham Aliev received more votes than the other candidates-88.73% of votes. Igbal Agazadeh received 2.86%, Fazil Gazanfaroglu 2.47%, Gugrat Hasanguliev 2.28%, Gulamhuseyn Alibayli 2.23%, Fuad Aliev 0.78% and Hafiz Haciev 0.65% of votes. President receives 15 000 manats salary from the day he takes an oath. In the congratulation letter European Council shows its faith to the efforts and tireless reforms of the president Ilham Aliev towards democracy in Azerbaijan. It is also stressed that this policy will be supported by European Council and European Council is ready to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the future.
