15 December 2011 | Azerbaijan Report on children's rights station to be discussed at UN
Azerbaijan Report on children's rights station to be discussed at UN An Azerbaijani delegation headed by Chairman of State Committee for Family, Women and Children Hijran Huseynova will represent Azerbaijan in the gathering.

The delegation includes representatives of the ministries of interior, health, economic development, justice, finance, foreign affairs, etc.

The report reflects the problems associated with the state of children's rights, and measures taken to solve them.
Problems in the field of children's rights are mainly associated with street children, the difficulties children from orphanages face, including problems with employment and housing, lack of education among school-aged girls as a result of early marriage, violence against children in the family, etc.

The committee noted that despite the measures taken by the government to address these problems, their parents' irresponsibility is the key drive for such problems.

Azerbaijan joined the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1992 and assumed liabilities relating to the protection of children's rights. The provision of the report on the status of children in the UN is one of the commitments.

The fourth report prepared by the state, comes as the first one drawn up after the establishment of the State Committee.
